About Community School of San Diego

At the Community School of San Diego, we believe that every child can learn to achieve given the appropriate tools and strategies for success. From this, we identify and build upon student strengths. We also believe that learning is a life-long process and encourage our students to become actively involved in their education. Through the exploration of self, subject matter and the world around us, we celebrate the individual differences and learning styles that make each and every one of us unique and interesting.

Our program was founded on the principle that each child is an individual with unique interests, academic goals, and abilities. We are proud to say that we have created an environment that, above all, respects the individuality of each and every student. Our mission is affirmed by every single smile that walks through the door.

The Community School of San Diego has created a holistic approach to teaching students the necessary skills and strategies that promote success, happiness, and a lifetime of learning. We believe that learning should be experiential and relevant to each student’s life. The Community School combines this philosophy with instruction at each student’s ability level to devise a program that is specific to individual needs and goals.

Our students learn how to be positive and contributing members of the community. In addition to standard academic classes, students participate in art, music, vocational and social skills classes throughout the day. Whether it’s in cooking class, working in the garden, or going to the grocery store, our students are exposed to real-life community experiences that reinforce what is being taught in our classrooms.
